Cork Pops Legacy

They give you a pretty good idea of how these products work although it appears that it was GDP’s first time using the VinOair and the Cork Pops Legacy. More product knowledge of some them might have made for better reviews but on the other hand I would not be a good wine critic but could tell you if I liked it or not which is essentially what Gregory did in his product reviews.

Lieb Family Cellars 9/11 Wine

This morning on the radio I heard about Lieb Family Cellars in Mattituck, NY on Long Island releasing a couple of vintages of wine commemorating the 9/11 attacks. I must admit that my first reaction was, huh? How could anyone do that? So I went on my computer and did a web search. What shocked me more than the wine was the vitriolic criticism directed at the winery. While I am not ready to say that they 9/11 wine is one of the best ideas to ever come down the pike, I am willing to let this play out and see how the winery performs on their donations to the 9/11 Memorial. On their website, Lieb Family Cellars states that they have been “a proud supporter of the 9/11 Memorial thru the Septembers Mission Foundation since 2004.” Maybe I’m wrong, but I am guessing that despite the snarky criticism on Perez Hilton’s blog (full disclosure-not a fan) that he isn’t a member of the September Mission Foundation and that he hasn’t donated to the 9/11 Memorial Fund. I did a web search to see and his donation didn’t show up if he made one. Maybe he did it anonymously (hard to believe if he did). What I did find on the Coco Perez website was an announcement that Barney’s New York was donating 10% of it’s Fashion Night Out sales to the National September 11 Memorial. Then it says “AMAZING” and “This year’s Fashion’s Night Out is all about giving back for Barneys New York.” I applaud Barney’s. This is, after all the United States where capitalism and charity mix. However I didn’t see any vitriolic snarky criticism for Barney’s even though I assure you that the impact of their donation to their bottom line is miniscule when compared to the impact that the 6-10% donation will have on the small family owned Lieb Cellars’ bottom line. The difference is that Lieb Cellars probably doesn’t have a high priced PR firm to advise them on the best way to nuance their announcement (though I will admit that they probably should have seen that the $19.11 price was probably not such a great idea). I am going to look past the missteps, and give them the benefit of the doubt and see how they do. I hope that Lieb Cellars will let us know how this worked out for the Memorial Fund and themselves. If anyone actually reads my blog, I eagerly await your snarky criticism.

Wow, what a great idea! This new product, called the Wine-Tapa keeps insects from ending up in your glass of wine. It is a round disk with a center of dense stainless steel screen that prevents entry by unwanted pests but allows your glass of wine to breathe and reach its optimum flavor. The underside features a soft gasket that forms a secure seal with the rim of your glass. It fits glass rims from two to four inches and is great for other beverages as well.
